Daz Rinko has literally been building his buzz all year, and earlier this week, the Memphis emcee finally dropped his official debut, LIFTED. Other than GoldLink — who arguably popularized the Future Bounce sound — you don’t hear a lot of emcees trying to keep this wave afloat; but Daz Rinko is looking to change that, as well as bring an air of positivity that has been absent. “I am aiming to spread positivity and get people grooving during this rough stretch in Memphis, as well as the world in general”, he says. “Crime has been crazy, and I want to give people something to dance to. LIFTED is something they can look forward to bumpin’.”

If you’re a fan of Cleveland’s Tae Miles, then you probably thought he was NEVER going to drop this project. He talked about it and teased it for what seemed like years, but on June 21st — the first day of Summer — Tae finally liberated CurlPattern. With previously released projects like The Adventures of the Wahoo Village Warrior, and Throedie (which he released under the WiseGuy. moniker), CurlPattern is a bit of a contrast, as it is aimed more at appeasing the ladies. And that’s never a bad thing.

Jay Swifa – Haters Never Prosper
Most people know Jay Swifa as one-third of the Columbus, Ohio collective, Fly.Union. You’ve heard him rap, you’ve heard him sing, and you’ve definitely heard him produce — not only for Fly.U, but also for the likes of Pusha T, Dom Kennedy and more. Lately, it is his production on Jerreau’s banger, “Really Got It”, that has people talking. In addition to being praised by LeBron James, the song, known for its blaring horns, can be heard in one of the latest commercials for Beats by Dre. Now, Jay Swifa has released a project of his own; an instrumental project, titled Haters Never Prosper. Packaged as a mix, Haters Never Prosper is 25 minutes of straight vibes. Peep it.

There was a time when Jillian and Lucas — collectively known as New York duo, Lion Babe — would drop a song here and there, but leave their fans thirsting for an actual project. They ended that drought earlier this year, when they released their impressive debut album, Begin. In a surprise move, Lion Babe has doubled back, to give us even more new music, this time in the form of Sun Joint, a new mixtape that has ‘cookouts and pool parties’ written all over it. Trust me. You really want to have this one in rotation; especially if you enjoyed their latest jam, “Endless Summer”.
