Kehlani, the Cloud 19 singer shares a new single, “24/7” with her fans, letting them know that she is OK, even if she isn’t OK. Embracing her flaws, Kehlani speaks to insecurities that everyone goes through. Her song uplifts those who aren’t having the best day, week, or even year. No one is perfect, is what Kehlani seems to be getting at. This is her first song released after her attempted suicide once rumors of infidelity surfaced with her then boyfriend, Kyrie Irving.
To brighten the mood a little, the song is uplifting and allows self love to be perpetrated in women and men all alike. The song can be of help when going through a tough break up, bad day, or hearing some bad news. Kehlani has her own particular sound for sure. “24/7” has a pop feel and lets Kehlani’s angelic voice prosper on top of a dope technical beat, produced by DZL. DZL has not been featured on any of Kehlani’s previous works, however, the up-beat sound of this track shows promising potential for the two in the future.
Though this song has a new feel to it, the self love idea is not new to Kehlani. A few of previous songs like, “Deserve Better” and, “Be Alright” send this same message to her audience in different ways. Because she normally speaks on relationships, it’s nice to see her speaking about herself as a woman without the need or influence of a man (We Can Do it!)
You can find this song on her website, kehlanimusic.com and others on her 2014 mixtape, Cloud 19 and her 2015 Grammy nominated album, You Should be Here. Those who are fans and those who aren’t hip yet should definitely catch the wave she’s been ripping.
We’re all glad to see Kehlani is doing better.
