The all-around loved giant brand H&M announced on social media that they will be teaming up with French luxury house, Kenzo. Creative directors, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon will be H&M’s 2016 designer collaborators.
The collection will be arriving in 250 stores worldwide and online on Nov. 3rd. No pieces have been released, but H&M gave a little snippet video to announce the collab. Judging from the video released, I’m taking a wild guess the pieces will be containing some bright colors and prints. The runway show isn’t going to happen until October, but surely this will be another high-end sell out collection.
H&M’s Head of Design, Ann-Sofie Johansson spoke to vogue.com on why she chose Kenzo, “We’ve had our eyes on Carol and Humberto at Kenzo for a few years. It seemed right to do the collaboration with them now. It’s totally different than the Balmain one; we really like to pick different designers, to show our customers different aesthetics.” They also spoke to Kenzo designers, Lim and Humberto on what the collab with H&M will teach buyers about the brand, “There’s femininity, there’s fun. There’s a tactile approach to techniques and embroideries, embellishments. Those are are things he worked hard on. But it’s no how many of the other French houses approached it. He was very youthful with his technique.”
H&M has also joined forces with big name high fashion designers, such as Alexander Wang; this collection had lines wrapped around stores and literally crashed the H&M website. They also recently did their Balmain collab, which escalated from $34 Balmain logo t-shirts to elegant high-priced apparel passing $500. The new upcoming Kenzo pieces will be great look for both of the popular brands.
We will keep you updated as more information releases on the two brands teaming up!
