Kanye West is reportedly facing a new lawsuit worth $2.5 Million. According to TMZ, the lawsuit is stemming from a sample used on “New Slaves,” Ye’s first single off his highly controversial album, Yeezus.
Hungarian composer, Gabor Presser is the individual in question seeking Copyright Infringement damages for Kanye’s use of “Gyöngyhajú lány” which can be heard at the end of “New Slaves” featuring a short outro from Frank Ocean. TMZ reports Presser originally gave Kanye the green light assuming a formal deal would be worked out. According to Presser, such a deal was never reached and only received a $10,000 cheque to which he has yet to cash.
Regardless of your feelings towards Mr. West, there is no denying the man is a mastermind when it comes to samples and production. Perhaps, Gabor Presser just didn’t expect the use of his sample to turn out so successful? Unfortunately, there are no further details at this time.
