Say what you will about Desiigner. Say he “sounds like Future”. Say he’s “trash”. Say whatever. But what you can’t say is that the 19 year-old Brooklyn native and recent G.O.O.D. Music signee doesn’t have one of the most talked about records out, right now with “Panda”. I mean, he hit the number one spot on the Billboard 200 and that hasn’t happened at the hands of a rapper from New York since this one guy named JAY Z (you might’ve heard of him) did it in 2009.
Desiigner is making noise, and whether you enjoy this song or absolutely hate it, you’ll probably hear it all summer long. In addition to hearing it everywhere you go — which you will — you now get to experience it visually and at your convenience as Desiigner delivers the official video to “Panda”.
“Panda” was partially inspired by the Grand Theft Auto video game series, so it should come as no surprise when you watch this clip and see slight references to the game, like Desiigner stealing a car at gunpoint and being chased by police all through New York. And we can’t forget about the frantic, 1 of 1 dance moves that this kid is known for and regularly showcases. If that’s something you enjoy as much as me, there is plenty of that in this clip.
Watch “Panda” exclusively on TIDAL and keep an eye out for a brief appearance from none other than the boss himself, Kanye West.
