I got hip to Chicago emcee Demetrius G a couple of years ago through a mutual friend who is known to her fans as Bebe O’Hare. She sent me a song they collaborated on, called “Cubicle“, told me I would really like it, and then suggested I check out Demetrius’ debut project, Violet. Bebe makes good music, so naturally her taste in music is exceptional as well. Long story short, I checked out Violet and she was right. This Demetrius G kid was pretty good.
After Demetrius G dropped Violet, it’s fairly safe to say that he kind of chilled out a bit. Perhaps he needed some time to create. Perhaps he just needed time to temporarily shift his focus to things outside of music. In any event, here were are two years later, as Demetrius is back with new music in the form of his latest project, Saints.
Saints is five tracks long and comes in at just under twenty minutes in length (eighteen, to be exact), but with the short attention span of today’s listener, that actually works out perfectly. The song from Saints that is probably the most popular, is “Can’t Go”, which features MFnMelo, but my personal favorite would have to be the Mic Lee-produced “Understatement”.
“This is for the imperfect and the confused. You are the real Saints. God loves you and I love you” – Demetrius G
