A week after unveiling the cover to his forthcoming Chance 3 mixtape, Chance The Rapper debuted his new single, “Blessings,” on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
Chance’s powerful performance was accompanied by Donnie Trumpet, Jamila Woods, Byron Cage and a choir in the background to go with his gospel themed song, “Blessings.” The track features lyrics as, “I don’t make songs for free, I make ’em for freedom / Don’t believe in Kings, believe in the kingdom.” Chance’s music not only receives admiration from his elder role model figures but it also speaks to the millennials of the new generation.
After the Chicago native appeared on Kanye West‘s “Ultralight Beam,” he set the hype up by rapping “I met Kanye West, I’m never going to fail / He said let’s do a good ass job on Chance three / I hear you gotta sell it to snatch the Grammy / Let’s make it so free and the bars so hard / That there ain’t one gosh darn part you can’t tweet.”
Although Chance 3 was originally set to be released in April, he unveiled the official artwork instead on Twitter.
