Today, a Pennsylvania judge ordered 78-year-old, Bill Cosby to trial, due to accusations of sexual assault.
Prosecutors seem to have had enough evidence on Cosby drugging and sexually assaulting a woman he once mentored. He has been fighting several civil cases and according to NY Times, the ruling by Judge Elizabeth A. Mchugh, means that he must face at least one of the accusers in a criminal proceeding, that will more than likely take place this year.
The decision led to a 3 1/2 hour preliminary hearing in Pennsylvania, where the prosecutors gave the statement of Cosby and the woman, Andrea Constand. She is a former Temple University employee and accused Cosby of drugging and molesting her. The case was closed, but has now been reopened. Last year, 40 women came forward to confess similar stories and accusations. If he is convicted, Cosby could face 10 years, but he would face a punishment too soon because of so many cases he’s already been faced with. Constand says she looked at Bill as a mentor and he gave her life advice.
Constand says the all-american dad of the sitcom The Cosby Show, violated her after giving her three blue pills, saying it made her fill dizzy. Evidence in his depositions shows he admitted to giving her pills and having sexual interactions with her.
With Constand not coming to court, it angered Cosby’s team, as his lawyer, Brian McMonagle ranted to the judge that the statements were hearsay.
Seems like Cosby will battling cases and bailing out of jail for a while. Cosby’s next court date is July 20th; were not sure when the actual trial begins. Every time America thinks it’s over, he gets torn right back down into another assault case. Sure this won’t be last.
