Aside from Lil Uzi’s recent blow up, Philadelphia’s music scene hasn’t been having the best of luck lately, however, $HEED, a 20 year-old rapper is hoping to make it big with his unique sound.
“For the most part it has been that Meek Mill sound but we’re trying to bring out a whole new style to Philly. There is so much talent especially in the underground scene, the artist are real cool. We’re just hoping to take the music scene here in a different lane”
Debuting on SoundCloud, “Girls Who Do Yoga,” now has over 10k listens and continues to grow. $HEED delivers a feel good summer track bringing in a chill club/hip-hop vibe, over his tasteful yet witty lyrics.
“I woke up one day and I was like I’m gonna write a song called “Girls Who Do Yoga.” I started looking for a beat… and I mean a couple lyrics later GWDY was created” said $HEED “I didn’t expect it to grow as big as it did. I mean I had no promo plan I just tweeted it and hoped that some blogs would pick it up so I’m pretty happy it grew.”
$HEED has more upcoming projects on the way including his first album, a new track set to release later this month called “How Do I Forget” and also a video for “GWDY.”
“I have a lot plans for this year. I’m working on my album right now. I can’t really describe the definite sound of it yet but it’ll be something that no one has ever heard before. Hopefully within the next couple years my music becomes a way of living. I hope that I am a star and I’m touring around the world and making good music.”
