As if the feud between Adrien Broner and his former mentor, Floyd Mayweather, wasn’t intriguing enough, things just got that much more interesting.
What was once treated as a ‘Big Brother/Little Brother’ relationship between Floyd Mayweather and Adrien Broner has soured as of late, with Broner
— on numerous occasions — questioning Mayweather’s loyalty and expressing his disdain for certain remarks he has made about him and his personal life, to the media. Broner has made it clear that he feels betrayed by Floyd, based on how he has been handling things. “Somebody I look up to, somebody I admire took the chance to do an interview and talk all bad about me”, Broner lamented.
After Adrien Broner’s last fight, which was an impressive TKO victory over Ashley Theophane — who actually fights under Floyd Mayweather’s TMT imprint — Broner wasted no time letting his issues with Mayweather be known and even took it as far as challenging him, as he laughed and looked on from ringside. “Floyd, you’ve got to come see me”, Broner said. “You gotta see me, point blank, period… I will never let another man disrespect me. I don’t care if we fight or spar.”
Based on the storyline alone, I would love to see a Floyd Mayweather vs. Adrien Broner matchup, but it doesn’t appear that Floyd or the boxing world share that sentiment, so it probably won’t happen. However, it does appear that we’ll get some entertainment out of this beef, as Broner — who is known to rap from time to time — takes a stab at Desiigner’s red hot record, “Panda”.
The video, titled “Slammer”, not only sees AB addressing his legal woes, but he also manages to get in a jab or two (verbally, anyway) on Floyd. “I got Floyd goin’ against me/I really ain’t trippin’/Turned on me for some business”, he raps.
