The new documentary, LoveTrue explores the idea of “True Love” by following three dysfunctional real-life relationships as they unfold in distant corners of the United States. Premiering at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival, the film is directed by Alma Har’el and executive produced by actor, Shia LaBeouf.
“Alma is a brilliant filmmaker who is using psychodrama as a platform for healing and insight,” LaBeouf said in a statement. “She makes you feel safe, learns of your life, shares hers with you. She encourages spontaneous creativity and holds your hand as you address your personal problems. Then she guides you as you externalize your real-life situations or fantasies, dreams, inner mental processes creatively. She really gives a s–t about people.”
The project features a hypnotic original score from Flying Lotus. LoveTrue follows three complex real-life relationships as they unfold in three corners of the country — Alaska, Hawaii, and New York City — in three very different ways.
The film explores how each relationship contends with the various challenges that life poses, and how their love fades and brightens over time. Check out the trailer above.
