ASAP Ferg is on a “new level” with his sophomore album, Always Strive and Prosper, which is available for streaming and purchase today.
Always Strive and Prosper comes fresh off the heels of yesterday’s single and music video for “FLEM,” which is produced by Pro Era’s Kirk Knight. Ferg has keep his album under wraps for the most part, while still making noise with his singles “New Level” and “Let It Bang.”
Chris Brown, ScHoolboy Q, Rick Ross and Future are some of the guest spots on Ferg’s second effort. Additionally Ferg’s crew, A$AP Mob, contribute verses to their homie’s album. Although these artists usually appear on anyone’s album, there are a few unexpected surprise guests that steal the show on “Prosper.” Skrillex, Missy Elliot, Public Enemy frontman Chuck D, Ferg’s grandmother aka Mama Ferg, and Tatiana Paulino (the mother of deceased A$AP Mob co-founder A$AP Yams) also team up with Ferg on some of the album’s best tracks.
The change in his sound and style are apparent within his beat selection and lyricism. Ferg claims this album is more autobiographical in nature than his 2013 effort Trap Lord. He finds a way to weave his personal relationships into an album that also includes more serious tracks such as “Rebirth” and “Strive.”
