ScHoolboy Q Releases Single ‘Groovy Tony’ With Music Video

TDE was plotting today, as TIDAL revealed news that the crew would be releasing new music on Monday night. It wasn’t exactly clear which member would do the honors of putting out new material, seeing as though they’re all prepping new material. SZA, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad, and ScHoolboy Q have previewed new music, and/or gone on record to say they are coming with material. After all the wondering, Founder of TDE, Top Dawg tweeted “i will drop something when my plane touchdown in LA 2nite… kool?”

Before the clock struck midnight on the east coast, we were gifted with “Groovy Tony,” the new single from ScHoolboy Q. Hardcore and edgy as ever, Q delivered on all cyliders on this new one. Those of you who have listened to Q’s Habits & Contradictions and previous work, Setbacks, will appreciate this new single. It’s the same ole Q, but the rhymes are more compact.

There’s no telling when Q will give us his new album, but we know he’s been working on it for quite some time. Q hit the radio strong last album (Oxymoron) with “Collard Greens” featuring Kendrick Lamar. This time around, he goes back to the gritty Q many appreciate. That’s not to say that his many aspects aren’t appreciated, but the short-lived nostalgia of his previous work still lingers in mental thought.

To go along with the new single, ScHoolboy also releases a music video for “Groovy Tony,” directed by Jack Begert and the Little Homies.
