Royce Da 5’9″ teams up with Pusha T and Rick Ross for the title track off his forthcoming album, Layers.
Produced by Mr. Porter, this one is a special treat that has us anxiously awaiting the release of Layers on April 15th. This is the Detroit emcee’s first album in 5 years and you should expect nothing less than greatness. The growth that we have seen from Royce in these last few years makes this album highly anticipated and highly necessary due to the level of rap he always brings to the table.
Known for his dynamic wordplay that seeks to make you think and keep you wanting more, Royce Da 5’9” knew exactly what he was doing when he enlisted Pusha T for this collaboration. The lyricism and chemistry between the two is stellar. You just might have to listen to this one a few times to really understand the weight of their words but trust us it will be worth it. After listening , are we the only ones that think a Pusha T and Royce Da 5’9″ mixtape is long overdue? Hearing these lyrical tycoons go head to head on an album is definitely something we are here for.
Ross smoothly holds his own on what sounds like a Mayback Music inspired track. Boasting about his money, homes and women, Ross lives up to his reputation of being the “biggest boss that you seen thus far.”
