“Just because it’s 4/20”
Rihanna has been teasing via social media for a while (March to be exact) the visuals to one of ANTI‘s standout tracks, “Needed Me” and today at noon she bestowed us with what we’ve been waiting for –which seems forever–to hear such a female empowered song come to life and it’s totally worth the wait.
Serving as the the third single — after the smash “Work” and “Kiss It Better”— Rih is back once again serving looks, vocals and attitude all with so little effort. The NSFW video squeezes in plenty of nudity and violence for the three minute treatment. Directed by Harmony Korine, whom also served as the director of the 2013 Florida trap/fantasy film Spring Breakers, “Needed Me” possesses the film’s elements crossing the lines of savage, yet pretty. The video, shot in Miami, showcases full of strip club dim-lights, dirt bikes in neighborhoods and skull mask-wearing gunmen.
Other highlights in the video include waterfront views, money showers, puffs of smoke (due diligence to the holiday of course) and the Barbados beauty slaying in sexy (and expensive) revealing attire. Add a hint of murder and you’ve got a recipe of a visual that’s pure savage.
Well into Spring, Rihanna has made her mark with the release of eight studio album ANTI. The album was released January, and since then, nothing has been the same (no pun intended). Rih’s career is continually picking up speed with each move she makes and shows absolutely no chance of slowing down.
