Rihanna is touching lives through more than just her music. Rihanna has been know to engage with her fans, and others via Twitter, but recently the singer lent her support to one of her fans who feared coming out the closet to his family and friends.
The young fan, who wishes to remain nameless, told BuzzFeed that all it took was a direct message of support from RiRi that gave him the courage to come out. The “Work” singer coached him by saying, “Baby, it’s OK to be scared, but it’s more important to be who you are. You don’t have a choice, really. That’s not a decision to be made. ou are who you are, and as hard as it may seem, the best s**t ever is freedom and peace within yourself. Your family may not understand, but luckily you live in a generation that does, and not to mention the community here amongst us.”
That was just the start of the relationship between the two. As it blossomed with a few check-ins and updates, Rihanna continued by saying, “I’m so proud of you. I’m glad to see you finally happy with yourself. Being who you are is the only way.”
Rihanna’s fan told BuzzFeed that her messages helped him realize he shouldn’t be ashamed of himself and he’ll get the chance to thank her in person in July when they meet during her ANTI world tour.
