After finding success with her flip of Drake‘s “Hotline Bling,” which birthed her mixtape But U Caint Use My Phone. Then flipping Kanye‘s “Real Friends” into “Trill Friends,” Erykah Badu has returned with Wintertime‘s 2015 track “Thru It All.” On the cover Badu addresses the current state of what’s on her plate. Lack of support amongst other things. Dropping it on 4/20, she even spoke on it in the song.
“No drugs no alcohol/420 came back around/ but I already came back down.”
At the top of the year, Erykah announced that she’s planning a release of a new mixtape titled THIS $h!t TOO EASY. Might this new track be the beginning of what’s to come?
In addition, the singer graced the latest cover of Fader magazine where she further addressed her stance that was made via Twitter last week, and sent the Twitterverse into a frenzy. “It’s possible to understand the psyche behind behavior without condoning the behavior. I don’t have anything to apologize for,” she said. “I don’t mean to take anything back…Expressing our pain and anger for something can make us very delicate. I’m very sensitive about it now more than before. My whole objective is to create a dialogue. That’s always my main goal…I really enjoy writing and being able to get words out of my mind in a clear way, and I get to do that when I go on Twitter. I can push send knowing that I’ve clearly communicated what I was trying to say.”
