Here’s another issue K. Michelle can add to her list.
Just a few weeks ago K. Michelle, who’s real name is Kimberly Michelle Pate, released her third studio album More Issues Than Vogue. It’s safe to say the title was more than fitting for what has come.
The broadcast company, Radio One, has issued a mandate to all their stations to remove her music from their stations playlists. According to AlwaysAList.com, who’ve spoken with Radio One executives, confirmed Kay’s music will no longer be heard on their stations. That’s all her music, past, present and future. Far as, even any artist that features her on a song. This ban comes in result to her bailing on “several” Radio One promotional events during her promo run in the Washington, DC area earlier this month.
It appears that Radio One’s WKYS 93.9 FM newest morning show, The Fam with Lil’ Mo & DJ QucikSilva, were hosting a breakfast with 50 fans of K. Michelle’s that would have been broadcasted live but she no showed. Being the breakfast was scheduled on April 1st, listeners thought it was a prank but it was no laughing matter.
Reps from her camp said the “Can’t Raise A Man” singer wanted to stay at the Ritz Carlton Hotel the night leading to her appearance. However, the hotel was sold out and she was forced to stay in a nearby city of Baltimore, Maryland. Well…K. Michelle didn’t want to wake up early for the hour-long morning commute to Silver Spring, Maryland where the studio is located. According to a rep from her team, her reason for no-showing was “because she wanted to sleep.”
I hope that was some of her best sleep because it cost her music to be pulled from 55 broadcast stations in 16 markets within the country. It’s also been learned that Radio One isn’t the only station to have an issue with K. Michelle. New York’s Power 105.1, which belongs to iHeart Radio has too yanked the singers music from their programming. This decision came in result to a spat Kay had with co-host of The Breakfast Club, Angela Yee on air.
I pray she has enough “V.S.O.P.” to help her through yet another issue!
