It’s only been a day since Drake dropped his fourth studio album, VIEWS but the numbers that are coming in are beyond what expected! While an event in his hometown of Toronto, Drake got on stage and pulled out his phone and stated, “I got a text message that we sold, like, 630,000 some records in one night.” That’s over half a million! Well damn.
The fact that it’s only been a day and the album sold that many times, is pretty amazing. Only artists like Beyonce and Adele have done numbers like that in their first day. And speaking of Beyonce, Drake might actual surpass Beyonce with these types of numbers. It’s a bit early to tell but according to Complex, the RIAA recently changed up the rules in terms of sale counts. RIAA now factors in streaming performances for songs that were released before the album dropped. For Drake this includes all the streams for “Hotline Bling,” “Pop Style” and “One Dance.” And if you all remember, “Hotline Bling” was extremely popular when it dropped and still is now.
Though it’s still very early, congrats are still in order for the first day sales! We will keep you guys all posted on the final sales for the week. This is a close one for Beyonce and Drake!
