It is no secret that Beyoncé has a knack for putting out extremely catchy songs full of quotable song lyrics that end up plastered all over the web and some really dope merchandise. One merchandiser took that to new heights by not only creating merchandise centered around Beyoncé’s work but also by selling it under the brand name “Feyoncé.” Bey and her team isn’t haven’t it and have filed suit against Feyoncé for using her liking to make a pretty penny off of the merchandise.
The company, Feyoncé, has been selling mugs, tank tops, t-shirts and even a plus size selection of mechanism with the name “Feyoncé” written on it in similar font and coloring to the font on Beyoncé’s self-titled surprise digital drop released back in 2013. From the looks of it, the brand may be specifically for, you guessed it, soon to be brides hence merchandise with the quote “He Finally Put A Ring On It.” Though the brand switches up the font color and type from time to time, Bey and her legal team feels as though the company isn’t only making money off a name that is quite similar to hers, which of course is trademarked, but they also are causing confusion amongst consumers and are doing some unwanted damage to the Beyoncé brand.
According to TMZ, Bey and her legal team are demanding a cease and desist from selling any merchandise that has the name “Feyoncé” on it, which is basically everything available for purchase on the site. This is not the first time that Bey and her legal team have dealt with someone using Beyoncé’s liking for monetary gain. Back in 2015, Beyoncé’s legal team shut down an Esty store by way of a cease and desist that was selling merchandise with the same concept as the Feyoncé brand.
Somewhere in the world there are some brides to be that may be upset with this but this goes to show it is never a good idea to F with Queen Bey!
