It appears Curtis Jackson has finally come to a deal with his creditors that stipulates him to pay $23 million dollars, proportioned over the next five years.
Back in July of 2015 the Get Rich or Die Tryin rapper filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, after he was found guilty of posting a woman’s sextape online without permission in 2009 (Lastonia Leviston, who has a daughter with rapper Rick Ross, $7 million in damages). His reason for filing was in order to “Reorganize his financial affairs, as he addresses various professional liabilities and takes steps to position the future of his various business interests.”
“I’m taking the precautions that any other good businessperson would take in this situation,” 50 Cent said after the filing. “You know when you’re successful and stuff, you become a target. I don’t want to be a bullseye. I don’t want anybody to pick me as the guy that they just come to with astronomical claims and go through all that. Walt Disney has filed bankruptcy. Donald Trump has filed bankruptcy.”
Curtis Jackson III, has submitted a proposal through his lawyers, which will need to be approved by the bankruptcy judge Ann Nevins. The amount works itself out to $400,000 a month and is 74 percent of what he originally owed.
