With the music industry continuously welcoming new sounds, new styles, and rapid progression, there stands little room to really shine. A lot of genre’s become over populated and if you aren’t already solidified in a spot, then you better keep it moving. Many cities have started to make groundbreaking moves with new artist who are breathing life into the ‘new’ music industry and making their own genre’s — places like; Chicago, New York, LA and especially Atlanta. Amongst the places listed, Philadelphia has just began to step their foot into the door of the music industry. I’m sure you’ve heard of Lil Uzi Vert, Chynna Rogers, PNB Rock, even Kur — but there are more to Philly artist that meets the eye, there are artist like Miles Chancellor, Anyee Wright, CRIME Children, Cloud Atrium, P.O.S, Ant Beale, Marv Mack, Tierra Whack, Theodore Grams and so much more.
But, we aren’t here for that! We’re here to highlight one Philly artist that I believe needs more recognition than given. Wilon has a song titled “Countdown” that could easily stand together with a couple of tracks off of Kanye Wests‘ very heartfelt 808’s and Heartbreak album (maybe a B side). ‘Countdown’ is very powerful if you listen closely to the words and so addicting that’s you’ll have to hit repeat. Even though it has only 2,000 listens on Soundcloud, the track deserves its’ proper recognition and praise. ‘Countdown’ is assisted by fellow rapper and immaculate producer, Cloud Atrium, who takes things to a higher level. Take some time and listen to bouncy new track ‘Countdown’ by Wilon.
