Things got a little bit awkward during Sunday nights Oscars, when Stacey Dash graced the stage to “represent for her people” and to wish the audience a “Happy Black Month”. The audience, both present at the Oscars and those watching from home, sat in complete silence wondering exactly what was going on considering her being very vocal about her negative views towards Black History Month in a Fox interview in January.
A day after the awkward Oscar appearance, Stacey ran to her blog to discuss why she made the appearance “to increase the Oscars diversity” in the first place stating:
When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not “black enough,” they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends…Bringing diversity to Hollywood… not merely because of color, but politics as well. (After all, different colors of skin is an easy kind of diversity. Ideological diversity is much harder, because it forces everyone to come face to face with actual beliefs. Hollywood needs BOTH.
As if most people haven’t already had enough with Stacey Dash and all of her Dash-ness, she put out a video shortly after her blog post of her reading mean tweets backstage at the Oscars in the style of the Jimmy Kimmel Live mean tweets segment.
Here are some of the mean tweets that she shared:
@ink_kid_smash: I was hoping there was a trap door on the stage and @REALStaceyDash would fall through
@l0rdSav: No one likes you
@njsista123: You looked foolish and sounded dumb
@lamado: #b***hbye
@JENNontheRocks: I’m sick of your s**t I’m pulling up
