You’ve heard your final “baby girl” on Wednesday’s night episode of Criminal Minds. Shemar Moore made his last appearance on the CBS hit show leaving his female fans heartbroken.
Moore, 45, played special agent, Derek Morgan, on all eleven seasons of the crime drama. His departure was stretched out over a three episode arc with Derek exiting the bureau to focus on his family. 11 seems to be the magic number for Shemar, being he made his exit from The Young and the Restless after 11 years, then supplying us with Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds for 11 seasons.
Executive producer Erica Messer said Moore is off to “leap” at “new things.” In her statement about his departure she went on to say “For those reasons, we have nothing but love and respect for him and his choice. But it doesn’t mean we can’t also be really, really sad.”
Shemar made the following statement to TV Guide about his departure:
“I’ve treated my acting career like school,” Moore said. ” ‘The Young and the Restless’: eight years. (That was) high school. ‘Criminal Minds’: college. Now I’m ready for grad school, a Ph.D., whatever you want to call it. I’m just ready to grow. I just want to leap.”
Following his final episode the network aired Shemar addressed his fans with a heartfelt video to all his baby girls.
