Last night in Austin, Texas, the entire OVO label made a surprise appearance and performance at the Fader Fort at SXSW, which was the perfect way to end the famous music festival, but the party was nowhere near over. During the late/early hours of the night, (depends who you’re talking to) PartyNextDoor decided to treat the public with his new single “Come and See Me,” the first track off his new album P3.
“Come and See Me” exudes the late-night, under water sound PND is known for, with less auto-tune and more R&B sultry sounds, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Keeping it in house, Drake and Noah “40” Shebib assist their label mate out in their respective fields creating a trademark OVO sound vibe to get the people in their feelings. With soft piano notes and 808s similar to melancholy raindrops, 40’s ambient production fits like a glove over the two Canadian’s harmonization of situationships. Drizzy kicks his verse explaining how the tables have turned and puts his own well-crafted spin on the catchy hook, evoking emotion of pain uttering his lover’s request.
Although he has not released a project since 2014’s COLOURS, Party had remained busy producing several tracks on Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, and mastering the role as primary songwriter on Rihanna‘s latest #1 smash, “Work,” which has reigned on the Billboard’s Top 100 for the last month. There is no release date for his next album, but hopefully it comes soon after Drake’s highly anticipated Views From The 6.
