After recently spitting a sharp guest verse on Blak Madeen’s “Guerrilla Soldiers”, Planet Asia returns with “Gold Vases”, the neck-snapping lead single off his upcoming album with DJ Concept.
The two clearly make for one hell of a duo, with Concept supplying the piano- and drums-heavy instrumental that Planet Asia uses as a platform to take down any sucker MC within earshot. It’s not all bravado for the Fresno, Calif. rapper, though, as he also touches on why he embraces everything golden and a no-f*cks-given attitude: “I’m from the block so that’s what I reflect/ Keep rockin’ ‘til I get me a check.”
With a slew of projects under his belt (do your Googles if you must), Planet Asia is at the point where, hypothetically, he could phone in projects and rely on his fan base to mess with it. But as he proves on “Gold Vases”—and the remainder of his and Concept’s concept album, Seventy Nine—that’s just not his style.
You can enjoy the single below while the entirety of Seventy Nine is due out March 25 via Coalmine Records on digital, CD, limited-edition gold vinyl.
