To clarify the obvious, all you need is a Drake cameo, twerking, and a dance hall beat- clearly, all requirements to having the quintessential Rihanna music video. Anything beyond that is just ludicrous. Maybe die-hard fans were anticipating fireworks? Maybe they were hoping for a trap beat? Maybe they wanted and action sequence? Maybe the Rihanna Navy was looking for top-notch cinematography, CGI even? We are living in the digital age here.
What we do know is, Rihanna is awesome and Drake is awesome. Whichever the case, whatever the reason or situation, Rihanna will always remain flawless no matter what. We keep clinging on to this effervescent notion that she is a pop phenomenon who has a knack for re-inventing herself over and over again. It’s not easy for an artist to be relevant nowadays; but Rihanna is defying all the odds. Here’s a tip: seek to understand her music artistry. Appreciate it for its art and not commercial value. This is a girl, who can wear a red wig, promote bondage, and smoke weed, as if it were an everyday thing.
Wholeheartedly, Rihanna bashing sucks.Everyone always compares her to Beyonce. Let’s face this one true fact, no one will ever be Beyonce. But then again, no one will ever be Rihanna either. This music video was oh-so-important, simply because, it is like her comeback video from a 3 year hiatus. She’s been out of the loop for quite some time now. It must be really hard getting back to the groove of pop stardom again. Rihanna isn’t scared. Her navy isn’t scared. We’re ready in fact for the comeback. Her music is a wonderful drug. Rihanna’s presence is enigmatic in a way; very hard to describe her. Glad to see her comeback, her absence was wreaking havoc in the pop world. After watching this video, we were hoping for a happily ever after. As you know, everyone has their critics. Rihanna is no stranger to this. Music Video Sins had their take on this visual. Check it out below.
