After working with popular artists like K’Naan, Alicia Keys, and Keyshia Cole, and gaining a crazy online buzz, as she got a lot of people’s attention, covering songs from her bedroom, Maxine Ashley is finally ready to take flight. Recently she became the newest member of Pharrell’s i am OTHER imprint.
With her first single of the year, as well as her first under her new boss, the Puerto Rican singer, who calls The Bronx home, gives us a new visual for “Lobster”, a rebellious, yet extremely laid back song inspired by her grandmother’s “love for cooking lobster, which allowed the family to bond”.
Directed by Greg Cally, “Lobster” is unique in the sense that the entire video is played in a reverse sequence, seeing Maxine alternate between scenes of gathering with family, turning up with friends, and pre-gaming for the turn up; all while never leaving her building.
Peep “Lobster”, below and be on the lookout for more from Maxine Ashley.
