After he previously liberated infectious tunes such as “Catching Flies” and “Magnetic”, Memphis, Tennessee singer and songwriter Apollo Mighty has returned once more, with the third and final single from his upcoming project, titled The Great Divide. This particular trip, we get the sonic gift of “Happiness (Priorities)”, which was premiered earlier today via Afropunk.
Produced by Lewis Cullen (who actually produced all of The Great Divide, and is also known for his work with numerous artists in his native United Kingdom), “Happiness (Priorities)” is a slow burning song, that effortlessly details the importance and impact of the things you choose to put first in your life. In an email, “Happiness (Priorities)” was described as being “about evaluating life choices and deciding where to place your focus. For Apollo, it was a reflection; and he’s singing about the the emotion he feels when he connects with something bigger than himself. It’s the complete absence of pride being replaced by unconditional love.”
The Great Divide is not only an album –that sounds extremely promising, based on what has been shared– but a short-film, as well. You can expect the follow-up to Wilderness to drop on April 15th. In the meantime, go ahead and press play on “Happiness (Priorities)”.
