Sui Blue explores artistic depths with “Lucky Us” EP, and while the project is Sui’s first foray into the digital nether realms, it’s stark emotions make for a gut wrenching trip inside yourself. “Lucky Us” is a solemn collection of 10 alternatively-grungy, melodically crooned, rap-esque narratives that draw a vivid line between sonic ingenuity and crippling self-loathing. Cuts like “I Can Tell” and “Mad @ Us” mirror the EP’s direction, a raw tale of unpredictability in what seems like consistent life turbulence. “I’m Yours” and “A Way Out” (a seemingly genius drug ballad) conversely, finds Sui on the hopeful end, spitting airy rhymes over a soulful melody, inviting the opportunity of potential. “Lucky Us” is built around the idea that pouring all available emotion into a message can often times triumph over all, not a shabby takeaway from AZ’s clandestine hopeful.
