Snoop Dogg recently phoned in to DJ Whoo Kid‘s Whoolywood radio show and hinted at a possible dream tour with Dr. Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. During the interview with Whoo Kid (around the 3 minute mark), Snoop confirmed there are talks of a super-tour with Dre, Em, himself and Kendrick, but did not say it was even close to a done deal. Snoop said all parties mentioned still need to compromise in order to get the tour finalized, and added he would love to make it happen. The thought of all four going on tour together makes a whole lot of sense, being that they have many fans in common, transcend many eras of rap and all come from Dr. Dre lineage.
As some can remember, Dre, Eminem and Snoop were all a part of the legendary ‘Up In Smoke Tour’ in the year 2000, which had more than 40 stops at major arenas all throughout the United States and Canada.
Kendrick Lamar, the young gun of this group, is no stranger to major tours in his young career however, having very successfully headlined his own ‘Good Kid M.A.A.D. City’ Tour in 2013. Just as Eminem was peaking at the time of the ‘Up in Smoke Tour‘ and single-handedly bringing the majority of the younger crowd to the venue, Kendrick looks to do the same and fill that role in this proposed tour.
On the heels of Dr. Dre’s outstanding 2015, with his Grammy nominated album ‘Compton’, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ film, Beats by Dre headphones brand being sold to Apple, and his Beats1 Radio Show, he has successfully introduced himself to a whole new generation of fans.
Snoop Dogg has managed to stay relevant and ingratiate himself with the new trends and fads time and time again with new ventures, music and even his own internet news network ‘GGN’. His 2015 album ‘BUSH’ was filled with funk while showing how Long Beach native reinvented his sound once more with the help of executive producer Pharrell.
Eminem is still Eminem, just very reclusive unless it’s time for a huge world tour.
Dre, Snoop and other 90’s rap-stars are coming back around at the time when Kendrick Lamar seems to be at his peak, this might finally be the perfect time for an epic, super-tour. ‘Up In Smoke Tour II’, anyone?
