
Look at this. The idiosyncrasies that make up this show are mind blowing. And here’s why: If you were lucky enough to be invited, the invitations included a photograph taken by British photographer, Paul Lowe, in 1995. The picture (above) was taken after a historical massacre in Rwanda. In this photo, the Rwandan army was ordered to clear the Kibeho refugee camp. A 100,000 people were shot at. The people were massacred.
Rumor is, Kanye West was heavily inspired by this photograph and decided to pay homage with his fashion show. The comparisons are obvious- black tarps, crowded scenery. The mood overall is dark and despairing. This image evokes a certain presence that is polarizing. Yeezy’s fashion show channels similar re-enactments. His show was featured during New York Fashion week. Thousands of fans gathered together at Madison Square Garden to see the showcased pieces. Check out a video of the show below.
