As you all know by now, Rihanna is preparing to drop her new video for the Drake-assisted, “Work,” this coming Monday. If you saw the preview, you already know you’re in for a visual treat, because RiRi never disappoints. Remember. This is the same chick who blessed us with the clip for “Rude Boy”. The twerking. The gyrating. Lawd!
My bad. I lost focus for a second. I’m back, I’m back.
Often, I revisit Rihanna’s catalog, because for the most part, she has never really made an album that I didn’t like. While she has released a ton of videos, the creep in me always wonders why certain videos were never made. So here we are. Below are five videos Rihanna should have made, but never did, but hopefully still does, someday.
Song: “Sell Me Candy”
Album: Good Girl Gone Bad
This was like when Rihanna first started to get raunchy in her records. She broke away from that whole ‘good girl from the islands’ persona, hence the title of the album. I’m no director, but something along the lines of Rihanna being super seductive in a candy store might have been a good time.
Song: “Skin”
Album: Loud
This might be my favorite sexy time Rihanna song ever. Not to mention, this was one of the most popular songs on Loud. Should have been a video. Although Antoine Dodson kind of ruined this song for me, when a video of him dancing to it surfaced.
Song: “Watch & Learn”
Album: Talk That Talk
If you don’t listen to this song and imagine soft core porn or something, you might not be wired right. In addition, the production on this one gave off crazy reggae vibes, so you know ‘wine pon it’ Rihanna would have been in full effect.
Song: “Cockiness (Love It)”
Album: Talk That Talk
Rihanna was in her bag on this album. This is another one that would have surely been fun to watch given the the NSFW lyrics and twerk-ready beat.
Song: “Loveeee Song” featuring Future
Album: Unapologetic
I saw her perform this one at the Chicago stop of her Diamonds World Tour. She basically turned the stage into a slowly spinning bedroom, and was wearing this super sheer red dress. Why we didn’t get a video for this one, I’ll never know.
Come on, Rih. It’s never too late to give us visuals to make these sensual songs you blessed us with. In the meantime, let’s celebrate your 28th birthday and hope the good music keeps coming.
Rihanna’s latest album, ANTI, is available now.
