DJG writes his own rules. The skilled Chicago upstart has a penchant for wordplay and a mind for the boardroom. When he’s not developing RareBreedRecords with Larry Gordy and Showout, he’s working with Grammy Award Winning producers and lighting up the stage. The self described “Conscious Gangster” spent a lot of time carefully crafting his new project an entertaining balance of content enjoyable for backpackers and radio listeners alike.
One of DJG’s most important character traits as an artist is his versatility. It’s important as an artist to be able to appeal to all audiences, which means crafting different types of songs. DJG has the ability to do so and has proved it on many separate occasions.
His latest video keeps the momentum going with a powerful black and white visual for his incendiary single “Jym Krow.” The new visual is a true call to action. The Rarebreed emcee and Chicago native knows the angst and tension in American cities and weaves a narrative of contemporary tumult with historical precedent both lyrically and in the visual. “Jym Krow” is the latest single from DJ’s official debut offering “Stuck In My Ways“ which you can now purchase exclusively at RBRRec.com, the website for his record label.
DJG is no stranger to RESPECT, and not all of his music is politically charged like “Jym Krow.” His latest video, “Hustla” shows a more fun side to the artist’s music, as he parties with friends on a lowkey night and rhymes about his life as a hustler.
One thing DJG keeps consistent with his releases is the power and creativity he keeps alive in all of his visuals. Take for instance, his colorful Quentin Tarantino-themed video for this past summer’s Kash-assisted record “Kill Bill.” Although the video was less intense than the Uma Thurman mega movie – no one was killed in this video, but a lot of weed was smoked (although they claim no real marijuana was smoked during the video – hmm, not buying it!).
