Good news: There is a new movie with Michael Jackson in it, which, you know, sure, king of pop, we get it. However, starry-eyed movie goers are already disgruntled about the casting choice. British actor, Joseph Fiennes has been cast to play Michael Jackson in an upcoming comedy, Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon. This movie will follow the real-life story of how Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marlon Brando took a road trip, right after the 9/11 tragedy.
Michael Jackson was diagnosed with Vitiligo, which caused him to lose pigmentation in his skin. However, despite his condition, he is still technically African American. It’s no secret that casting a white actor to play the pop legend, sparked outrage all over the country. Ironically, Michael Jackson addresses the same issue in an Oprah Winfrey interview in the early 90’s. He talks about wanting to be portrayed as an African American actor if ever represented in a movie and being proud of his heritage. Check it out below.
