This week not only marked the 22nd anniversary for A Tribe Called Quest‘s undeniably iconic Midnight Marauders album, but it also debuted the releasing of J.Cole‘s remix of “Can I Kick It?” from the original 1990 People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths of Rhythm. The remaking of the single gives off an upbeat vibe, while still serving up its original mellow sound. As a 910 native, it’s definitely a beautiful thing to be able to witness innovators of hip hop and our Dreamville pioneer create something valuable and legendary. The reissue of the People’s Instinctive Travels and The Paths of Rhythm album is set to be drop this Friday and we are definitely looking forward to the rebirth of what Q-Tip, Phife, Ali Shaheed Muhammed and Jarobi’s made possible 25 years ago. Stay tuned.
