Jay Rock and Peter Rosenberg start their “Real Late” interview off by discussing the roots of his TDE days. Of course, Jay Rock is the OG when it comes to the TDE camp, but it wasn’t long before Kendrick Lamar showed up. Rosenberg asked Jay about who was in the studio during the early stages of him coming out of Watts, and going into the studio. Top Dawg, Punch, and Kendrick were all around. Kendrick only came about a month later after Jay Rock begin his journey. To get himself started in the rap game, Jay Rock would do songs with the homies and they would say to him “you got the voice.” Also, what made him want to rap, were those around him doing it and his brother coming home with various tapes. He became influenced by an older relative who wrote raps and Jay at a young age, mocked him. Check out the full interview below and stay tuned for Jay’s “90059” album to hit us soon.
