Soundcloud is an incredible asset for new artists and listeners alike. It gives us as listeners the opportunity to discover new music that we would normally never stumble upon and it gives artists the chance to be heard across the world. If you’re a lucky Soundcloud user, something new will pop up and play in your recommended tracks and you’ll love it.

That’s what happened for me when I came across Dallas born trio, Herrick & Hooley. The experimental band makes a musical mixture of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Soul, and even fuses some Pop influence into their music. During their live performances Hunter Lewis lays down groovy drum beats accompanied by Michael Barnes’ bass line and Ian Olney’s piano/vocal contribution. The band bends genre boundaries when Olney embraces total Hip-Hop and raps with Lewis’ thoughtfully constructed beats and productions. The three thrive within the middle zone of their varied influences to introduce their audience to genres they may have overlooked all while pushing current music in their own unique direction.

Their latest release, “Beach,” shows the three young artists putting their musical skills on display for the world to see.
