Rising Boston artist Merk just shared his new 16-track project, “The 6YS,” which stands for “Sixth Year Senior.” Acting as 1/3 of the music trio PAKXEMH, which is a group that charted on the Billboard Top 200 and peaked #2 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart with their 2014 EP “Highly Overdue,” Merk has chosen to release a solo body of work. With “The 6YS,” Merk proves to be a charismatic emcee that can hold his own as he shares an authentic coming-of-age story. We are treated to more than a handful of solid tracks worth replaying, such as stand out cuts “Mucho Mango,” “Bone Chilla,” and “The Outro,” which is where we hear a touching voicemail from one of Merk’s longtime friends. Sit back and enjoy the chill vibes that “The 6YS” has to offer.
