Jared Xavier’s “Changes” feels like a cinematic theme song. The Staten Island newcomer spits semi-complexity over a Castroe synth, forming a sonic that feels like a slow motion time lapse. “Changes” captures the energy of personal emotion, crossing over from a typical Hip-Hop cut, to a sound that could have played in the end credits of 80’s Miami Vice. This might be a change that Hip-Hop needs.
