Chicago’s King Louie adds a third installment to his coveted mixtape series with “Drilluminati 3: God Of Drill.” As one of the biggest and most formidable faces of the Drill scene, Louie’s “Drilluminati” series has set new standards for Chi-Town’s most aggressive art form. “God Of Drill” picks up right where he left off, a 16-track project that sticks closely to his roots, but demonstrates monumental growth as a songwriter. Features from Dreezy, Fetty Wap, and PartyNextDoor (which lends credence to his mysterious and speculated OVO affiliation) add deeper texture to the sound, but it Louie’s raw concepts and abrasive narration that really connects, proving that a King can indeed be a God. Preach.
