With limited resources (like money) and a preference to keep things in house, a lot of upcoming artists today are taking matters into their own hands when it comes to their production. But artists producing their own music isn’t uncommon. We can go as far back as to when Q-Tip produced the first three A Tribe Called Quest albums entirely on his own. Of course, there’s the legendary Dr. Dre, and more recently we’ve seen the likes of J. Cole and Travi$ Scott, who will tell you they were inspired by Kanye West.
Enter Cleveland’s Chelsea Pastel.
Chelsea, who started dabbling in production at an early age, is something like a triple threat, in a sense that she raps, she can sing and like the artists mentioned above, she makes her own beats. Her new track, “Life Goes On”, isn’t even two minutes long, yet she manages to keep the listener’s attention with sharp, witty wordplay, and distorted vocals, similar to what you’d hear from A$AP Rocky.
Be on the lookout for more from Chelsea Pastel, including a new project that is slated for a summer release.
