They say that home is where the heart is and the phrase was given life during the 2014 Forest Hills Drive Tour. The Dreamville crew including Bas, Omen and new signee, Cozz, opened the show with their best lyrical abilities. J.Cole brought the comfort of his childhood home in Fayetteville, NC to Birmingham, AL’s Iron City with a full performance of his 3rd studio album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive. The tone was set with “January 28th” as Cole performed in relaxed attire fit for lounging, a stool and dimmed lights. He captivated the audience as he recounted stories of his most ambitious moves before The Warm Up, including leaving 3 minute verses on an A&R’s answering machine. Reaching back into his catalog, Cole performed hits such as “Lights Please” and Born Sinner’s “Crooked Smile.” The sold out crowd felt the moment by reciting all the lyrics and experiencing Cole’s hospitality.
J.Cole is currently touring in smaller cities and is being joined by the Dreamville team, Bas, Omen and new signee Cozz. Check out photos from the Birmingham, AL show below. Photos by Robin Johnson.
