Last night, President Barack Obama made a guest appearance on the late night show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, surprising audiences by participating in one of the show’s most anticipated and hilarious segments – Celebrities Reading Mean Tweets.
The president is known for his ability to effectively reach out to Americans through popular culture, and he did just that last night by taking a short break from politics to give audiences (and even himself) a big laugh. The “President Edition” of the segment was tamer than usual, avoided expletives and included some of the kinder words of criticism people on Twitter rant about. However, it was equally, if not more funny to watch because of Obama’s deadpan expression while reading some of these ridiculous tweets.
President Obama’s comedic streak was evened out by more serious discussion when he spoke to Kimmel about a number of pressing political issues, including the recent shooting of two police officers in Ferguson. Check out the clip below.
