Houston’s Maxo Kream releases his new mixtape, MAXO 187. Teaming up with DJ Mr. Rogers and DJ Lil Keem, the budding rapper packs the tape with 15 original tracks, consisted mainly of his ruthless, cutthroat raps. Guest appearances and production come from Joey Bada$$, Father, Fredo Santana, LE$, Lamb$, Ski Mask Malley, A$AP P On The Boards, Wxlf Gxd, Ryan ESL, and more.
MAXO 187 is a refreshing take on southern hip-hop, specifically the traditional sound that Houston and the surrounding areas birthed generations ago. While still featuring familiar Houston hip-hop elements, Kream roams freely and isn’t afraid to experiment — it’s something he does throughout the entire project and the results are favorable.
Singles “1998” and “Cell Boomin” lead the charge on the new collection, which many people will consider to be his best body of work to date. His street tales are vivid and are an improvement on the previous Purple Strikes. The topics he focuses on are also more diverse with him expanding beyond his signature subject matter of trapping and robbing.
Stream MAXO 187 below and catch him on Joey Fatts‘ Ill Street Blues Tour.
