Califonia’s YG and Nipsey Hussle hit the stage at Best Buy Theater on Friday, and the two did not disappoint. Before they took they stage two rappers from the On My Grind collective performed a few songs. Even though they were able to get the crowd’s hype level up, it was the person that took the stage next who truly allowed the turn up to commence—DJ Mustard.
Before heading over to the Roc Nation boxing event DJ Mustard spun a very quick abridged set, and stated he was “here for the fam.” Shortly after he finished dropping some tunes, Nipsey Hussle took the stage. The Crenshaw bred rapper was dressed in all-black everything with a fur coat, some classic Chuck Taylor, paired with a fitted, t-shirt, and skinny jeans. Hussle was definitely prepared for the cold.
He started things off with “All Get Right” off Crenshaw. He followed that up with other Crenshaw tracks like “Checc Me Out,” and “U See Us” and “4 In The Morning” all of which were well-received by the audience. With the heat stage lights beaming, Nipsey took a second to take off his coat and went right back to it with “Keys 2 The City” from The Marathon, and “Rose Clique.” After high energy performances of “Fly Crippin’” and “Summertime in That Cutlass” he let the audience know that he’d be back and that it was YG’s turn to vibe out.
YG started with “BPT” and smoothly transitioned to “I Just Wanna Party.” My Krazy Life hits “Bicken Back Bool” and “Really Be” followed. With songs like “I’m A Thug” and “Toot It And Boot It” in between YG wrapped up “Act Right” before Nipsey Hussle joined him on stage in front of a hype audience.
Nipsey performed “Where Yo Money At,” “1 Hunnit A Show,” and “They Knew.” After a few more songs Hussle assisted YG with “Left, Right,” “B***hes Ain’t S**t” and “You Broke.” After songs like “Hussle In The House,” and “Who Do You Love” the night winded down with a couple more songs. Other special guests included Yo Gotti and Troy Ave.
Based off the audience response and overall fan support, YG and Nipsey Hussle are certainly two of America’s most wanted rappers.
