Latasha Alcindor (otherwise stylized as L.A.) is making it a goal to bring back a somewhat lost candor with, “”Bee.Em [Black Magic]”. Directed by Jamee Cornelia x Jay Chandler and produced by Another Planet Productions, L.A. made sure to attack her verse with some thought-provoking lyrics bursting with heightened social critique that is so necessary in our culture. The video was originally premiered on Noisey and since then has been garnering attention from just about every social site.
.RESPECT also reached out to L.A. to ask her about the intentions behind the record/video and what it meant for her to create it. This is what she had to say:
Someone wrote that this song is a manifesto to melanin and its power. I agree with that and add on to the fact that its power has been manipulated and denigrated. And this song and video is just the beginning of how I would like to be the change I want to see in the world. A big middle finger to those who think we can’t see how they are messing with us. A big thank you but no thank you cause we are awaken.
From tearing down her show at A3C Festival this year to modeling with Rocawear Blak, this definitely won’t be the last time you hear from this Brooklyn MC.
