Cars slowly piled the parking lot, as the rain hammered down endlessly. The line, usually wrapped around The Observatory Orange County was sparse. The venue, a stage where local hip-hop artists develop their craft, slowly began to fill. The rain caused a slight delay in the audience’s enthusiasm, but as the openers hit the stage one by one, the crowd became alive. Mary Jane in the air (check), crowd hyped with anticipation (check), lights out (check). With no further ado, at roughly 11 o’clock in the evening, Young Jeezy hit the stage, on a Tuesday!
Jeezy, dressed in all black, with a modest amount of gold chains, broke the silence with his presence. The Jesus piece, along with other sparkling pendants added to his simplistic styled fit. The bass, overly amplified, rattled through the speakers as Jeezy’s unique tone spread like wildfire. The crowd was hyped beyond measures and sang along with Jeezy as he went through a decade of his old hits. Soul Survivor, I Luv It, Leave You Alone, Trap Star, I Do and a couple of songs off his newest album, Seen It All : The Autobiography were included. Jeezy, unlike most artists rocked the stage solo, grooving to his tunes with comfort and ease. He finished his set by closing the gap between him and his fans, touching hands with a few.
The Seen It All Concert reminded fans just how long we’ve been rolling with Jeezy. It has been 10 years since the release of his first mixtape, and he has conquered what most aspire to be. Sustainability in an ego driven industry, where fads quickly fade. But the Snowman is a rare breed whose songs, verses and ad-libs are timeless, requiring no stamp of approval. RESPECT.
