Washington Wizards guard John Wall was overwhelmed with emotions during a post-game interview Monday night, as he talked about the loss of his 6-year-old friend, Miyah Telemaque-Nelson. The young girl, who lost her battle against cancer Monday morning, met Wall a few months after being diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma.
According to ESPN, Wall helped Miyah meet her favorite artist, Nicki Minaj, by writing and producing a 15- second video, requesting a meet and greet with the star. She responded, via twitter and later met her.
Wall and Minaj took to social media, where they expressed their sadness and sent condolences to Miyah’s family. Wall dedicated yesterday’s game to his friend, assisting the Wizards in a double overtime win with 26-points and 17-assist.
