Clippers point-guard Chris Paul, and Comedian/Actor Kevin Hart taught over 100 children a lesson about the gift of giving. Tuesday night the pair, along with fellow Clipper Ekpe Udoh donated $100 gift cards for a shopping spree at Toys “R” Us in Los Angeles, California. According to Fox Sports, Paul insisted the children buy a gift for someone else (i.e. brother, sister, friend, etc., not just for themselves. According to the report, it seemed to work. Children were buying mounds of gifts for others, before splurging on themselves.
Paul and Hart brought their kids along, where they learned a lesson or two about giving as well.
Paul told Fox Sports.
It’s a different lifestyle that our kids live than we did when we were growing up. [There are] certain things I know I had to do when I was young that I probably won’t make my son do. At the same time, I’ve got to try to teach him the different values and understanding. These are the ways for me.
Hart spilled in the interview
My kids are here to give, because that is what’s important for us. Giving back because we are in a blessed situation. They are not in a situation I was in growing up, but they will know both sides.
When asked what he wanted for Christmas, Paul kept it simple.
The only thing I ask for every Christmas now is to see my family.
The basketball star has 40 family members visiting this year for the holidays. RESPECT.
